The average Japanese person barely knows what a Jew is.

Just some religion that exists in America and Israel, two countries that most Japanese are supportive of.

Actually it would be more accurate to say that they know squat about Israel but imagine the Palestinians (and Muslims generally) to be a bunch of nutjobs.

When I was in South Korea a couple of years ago, the Korean guys we were with were always going on about how Jews are really good at making money and how much they wanted to go into business with Jews. This might have been part flattering-the-guest because one of the guys I was with was Jewish. One of our Korean hosts had a wife and kid who lived in America "for better lifestyle" while he stayed in Korea and ran the business. He said he was trying to enroll his kid in a Jewish private school in America but was worried he wouldn't get accepted since he wasn't Jewish.

In fact the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion are consistently good
sellers in Japan (they learned about the jewish conspiracy during their
time as a member of the Axis Alliance.)
